Today I have been playing with Serif Craft Artist and making journal cards. The weather today has such an Autumnal feel here in Suffolk so that is the theme I went with. Huge thanks to Gracie Tracy as I used some of the beautiful images from their CAP packs to design these. Also some other images from my Daisy Trail packs. Hope you like them.

I cut the pieces out using my robo, spent quite a while putting it together, then decorated it. See if you can spot the real cats whisker! There is no prize though I'm afraid. I really enjoyed making this and its a great way to display the little 'bits and pieces' we seem to accumulate.
I have come up with another project which can be made from mountboard, or any other thick card for that matter! No clues as to what it is yet, I need to make a prototype and iron out any crinkles but 'watch this space' as they say.

And by the way, my Cupcake Stand design is the latest project at Cardmaking Paradise! I was soooo excited when Sara said she'd like it for a project. Check it out and just look at the cakes she put on them, especially the scrummy looking merangue one ...... my favourite!
Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4890752346680464573.post-86095468396351326122012-04-13T21:35:00.003+01:002012-04-13T21:35:31.014+01:00Sorry!Sorry there is nothing new to see at the moment, I really must take some pictures of the things I have been doing and pop them on here.Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4890752346680464573.post-11083278350985711172012-03-21T13:16:00.000+00:002012-03-21T15:18:23.249+00:00Dressmakers Form CardAnd yet another card made from one of Sara's templates, please go and check out Cardmaking Paradise for THE place to be!

As soon as I saw the template I just thought LBD! How could it be anything else? I blinged up the bodice with gold paint and then gold glittler glue to really make it sparkle. This is a gorgeous project, you do need to be very careful cutting the legs out but its worth it, it makes such a great card.
I went for soft colours on the box but made the bird bright using Lumiere Paints, somehow I kept thinking 'blue bird of happiness' when I was painting it!
I made this year's Mother's Day card using the wonderful template from Crafting Paradise designed by the very clever Sara - please go and check out the site and come and join us for lots of crafty fun!

I printed out the template onto white pearlescent cardstock and added the purple/pink colour with my Lumiere Paints and the letters are painted with a gold one. It's really hard to see the shimmery effect on a photo but it does look lovely when it catches the light I promise! I added some tiny stamps and just added glossy accents to them and a little glitter glue to the ones on the actual letters, I didn't want to overdo the decoration on this because sometimes I can't seem to stop decorating! There is a gorgeous little box to make for the card to 'concertina' up and fit inside but as I wanted to add some chocs I made a larger box so there would be room for them and to make it into a card and a gift all in one! The box is just some pink cardstock I already had and embellished with the little stamps.

The china ones are so pretty and seem to be everywhere in the shops now but they are quite expensive. I wondered if it would be possible to make some from thick card. It was and now I cant stop making them! There are so many ways to decorate them too. With a good coat of varnish on the top they should be pretty hardwearing and shouldn't get any greasy smudges on them. Of course, you don't have to put cakes on them, they can be very pretty in their own right too!

I really must get better organised and start taking pictures of my cards and putting them on here. At the moment though my craft room is having a complete re-vamp - hooray! The downside is that all the crafty stuff is in boxes all over the house so I can't make anything at all. The ceiling has been done and plastered and one of the walls has also been plastered as it was really rough and nasty! Hopefully the new flooring will go down next week when all the painting is finished then its off to Ikea for some lovely new storage furniture and shelving. Then comes the fun part - getting everything sorted and put back in a lovely, clean, organised and bright craft room - yay, can't wait :)Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4890752346680464573.post-51566394298052362672009-04-18T08:38:00.006+01:002009-04-18T08:59:19.555+01:00Thank You!
This is a thank you to all the lovely ladies from the TFC Forum who sent me cards to cheer me up while things were tough. It's OK for me to put the pictures up now as I sent the book to her a week or so ago so I won't be spoiling any surprises, lol.
I really enjoyed working on it and pretty much let the design of it flow along as I went. I can't wait to start work on the next one now. I plan to put drawers in it to put little keepsakes in so fingers crossed it will work for me. I just need to look out for a suitable book to alter. Hardbacks are good, preferably ones without glossy covers. I feel a trip to a second-hand bookshop coming on :)

Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4890752346680464573.post-3991952569495635512009-01-14T10:59:00.003+00:002009-01-14T11:12:23.137+00:00Backgrounds
I was fiddling around the other day with trying to make a background - not for anything in particular, just for the fun of it. I used a gothic arch shape simply because it was to hand at the time and was really pleased with the outcome. Its made by stamping the images randomly over the surface in two different colours, then I rubbed it all over with a cotton wool ball dabbed onto a very light brown ink pad to give it an aged look and to take away the white of the card. Next I stamped the wording in dark brown and rubbed the ink pad round the edge of the arch. All in all I was very pleased with the effect. I didn't want to use the arch for anything but thought the effect would be great for a card so I did it again on a birthday card for my Dad which I will give to him tomorrow - his birthday was actually a couple of days ago but I forgot !!! Oooops !!!

Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4890752346680464573.post-87385971137446245252009-01-11T18:42:00.002+00:002009-01-11T18:49:07.577+00:00Gothic Arch Challenge

This weeks challenge was 'Grunge'. Not something I'm used to doing so this made it a real challenge for me. I used some fine, corrugated card from the inside of a cracker packet for the background which I dabbed over with some Adirondak Paint Dabbers. It was too dark for my plan so I 'lightened' it up by covering it with a layer of tissue paper which did the trick! Next I used some of Tim Holtz' grungeboard shapes for the door hinges and the skull image which I painted with the dabbers again, highlighting them with some gold also. The wording was inspired by one of my son's books on Pirates which I thought went well with the image I chose, lol. All in all, I am quite pleased with my arch, the first I've done in a while now and can't wait for next Sunday for the next challenge now!

Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4890752346680464573.post-60768356233271040472009-01-10T16:47:00.003+00:002009-01-10T16:51:07.186+00:00Beautiful Morning
It was such a beautiful morning with a wonderful frost clinging to all the trees and plant that I just had to rush out and take photo's. Where shall I start? I have so many projects I want to start on that I don't know where to start, lol. I've got some ATC's to start (and finish!), a load of projects I want to do from the Feb edition of Craft Stamper magazine, a very special something I am making for a friend who runs a craft website and forum and puts soooo much work into it I thought she needed a 'thank you' which needs finishing (nearly done) and I am trying to start a Circle Journal with some of the people from the Time for Crafting forum - not much to be doing then!!! I have also just signed up again with the lovely Gothic Arch people so will be making those again too.
So ..... instead of typing away on here I ought to be getting on with making something!
Watch this space!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12749194180447633877noreply@blogger.com1
